Built around a Ford Tourneo and installed with one 12m Clark pneumatic mast, extensive RF survey work can be carried out with the vehicle. The Clark 12m mast is normally rigged with a professional broadcast log periodic antenna for use at UHF television frequencies. This feeds test equipment including a Rohde & Schwarz EB500 receiver, an Anritsu Spectrum Master MS2711D – Spectrum & Network Analyser, a Promax Prolink 4C and a Rohde & Schwarz TSMA unit. All television reception work is carried out at 10m AGL – the height used for UHF TV network planning, as most domestic TV antenna systems are mounted at 10m AGL.
GPS, 2.4GHz, DAB & VHF antennas are also fixed to the vehicle enabling drive surveys to be undertaken and for vehicle computers to gain GPS location data for field studies.
The professionally built and calibrated survey vehicles include several
safety systems to ensure operator and public safety. All vehicle work is
undertaken safely, professionally and in accordance with GTech
Surveys Health & Safety and Environmental Policies. The vehicle is fully compliant to 2016 revisions of the Chapter 8 regulations of the Traffic Signs Manual (2009), with all vehicle operatives equipped with full Class 3 specification PPE. All installed equipment is subject to stringent regular electrical and mechanical safety checks. The survey vehicles are highly adaptable for both transmission and off-air reception use and are available for hire with a driver or professional broadcast trained engineer. Where access for non 4×4 vehicles may prove problematic, our survey Land Rover would be used.
