City of London Local Plan – City Plan 2040 (previously City Plan 2036)
What is City Plan 2040?
The new Local Plan, called City Plan 2040 (previously City Plan 2036), is a plan for the future development of the City of London, setting out what type of development the City Corporation expects to take place and where. It sets out the City Corporation’s vision, strategy and objectives for planning up to 2040, together with policies that will guide future decisions on planning applications. Once adopted, the new Plan will replace the Local Plan 2015.
Timetable
- January-September 2022: more evidence gathering, informal stakeholder engagement and drafting revised version of the City Plan
- September-December 2022: Committee approval process
- December 2022-February 2023: Consultation on Proposed Submission Draft City Plan 2040
- March 2023: Submission to Secretary of State for examination by independent Planning Inspector
- Autumn 2023: Anticipated examination hearing sessions
- Early 2024: Anticipated adoption of the City Plan.
