TETRA / Airwave Network Surveys

Depending upon the requirements of associated planning conditions, developers (in particular throughout the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham – LBHF) are often requested to ensure that Airwave / TETRA coverage is not adversely impacted by new development. The reason is normally to ensure public safety around the Site and in other local public areas is not adversely impacted by signal interference arising from new development. The UK’s TETRA network is owned and operated by Airwave Solutions. Their
infrastructure is targeted primarily at the mobile radio needs of
public safety groups (such as ambulance, fire and police), utility companies, and
other enterprises that provide critical voice and data communications services.

We undertake pre-construction and post-construction Airwave / TETRA network surveys to determine coverage around schemes and sites, and in areas identified in any planning documentation. These technical studies can be used to discharge associated planning conditions. Whilst we do not manufacture or install any radio equipment to bolster Airwave coverage, should any interference or signal degradation be expected or identified, our good working relationship with Airwave Solutions ensures any required mitigation is provided.

The equipment used to assess coverage is provided by Rohde & Schwarz. All metrics of the TETRA network can be monitored and assessed through signal processing software.

Since 2015, such surveys have been required for the Westfield Shopping Centre Scheme, West End Gate (Paddington Green) and the Greenford Green Redevelopment.
